Tim Baillie is Westhill’s very own Olympic Champion – a slalom canoer who reached the peak of his sport.
We are fortunate to have Tim acting as an ambassador with WDCSH. A gold medallist at the London Olympics 2012, Tim was brought up in Westhill and went to school here. His parents still live in the area.
Tim started competing in the in the mid-1990s in the K-1 category before switching to C-2.
In 2012 London Olympics, Tim and partner Etienne Stott won gold in front of a 12,000 fans at the Lee Valley White Water Centre on August 2, becoming Britain’s first Olympic gold medallists in canoe slalom.
Tim was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2013 for services to canoeing and retired from the sport in January 2014.
